MATCH REPORT

Sutton Coldfield 5 Tamworth 3

A good win in the end against a depleted Tamworth side, but it does leave us 1 point behind Coventry Cherry Tree going into the last match for that 3rd spot.

Rob Hawker (25.49) 3 Mick Smith (23.62) 2

Pikey started with a maximum and just missed an 11 darter in leg 1 before missing a further 10 at a double & giving the leg to Mick who also hit a maximum. It took a while for Rob to compose himself with a 24 dart 2nd leg, before getting back to form with a 15 dart 3rd leg. Mick took the 4th in 18 with another 180, before Pikey took the decider in 18 having scored his 2nd maximum of the night. Great start, 11 tons + 2 x 180 for Rob, 8 tons and 2 x 180 for Mick. 1-0 Sutton.

Barrie Linnecor (19.24) 3 Dave Harris Snr (18.87) 2

Baz had to work for his 12th win of the season. He lost a poor 1st leg, took the next 2 in 19 & 24, lost the 4th but dug in to take an edgy 5th leg. 3 tons for Baz, 5 for Dave. Sutton 2-0 up.

Steve Paling (22.01) 2 Mark Slater (21.14) 3

Steve so unlucky again, and how many times this season has he had the higher average but lost 3-2? A great start with a 17 dart leg for Steve, but Mark took the next 2 in 24 darts. Steve levelled up in 23, before Mark took out the decider in 22 darts. 7 tons for Steve, 5 for Mark. 2-1 Sutton.

Chris Millward (25.24) 2 Dave Harris Jnr (26.88 ) 3

Another great contest. Bomber took the first for Tamworth in 15 darts including a 180, only for 'Brains' to level up in 14 darts. Bomber restored his lead in 20, then Milly levelled again in 18. Milly got first poke in the decider despite a 2nd 180 for Bomber, but missed 3 at Tops. Bomber didn't need asking twice taking the game in 20 darts. 13 tons for Milly,
9 tons & 2 x 180 for Bomber. 2-2 on the night.

John Kavanagh (23.38 ) 1 Scott Mitton (24.55) 3

Slowish start with 1st 2 legs going with throw each in 23 darts, first Scott, then JK. Big chance in leg 3 though, JK missing tops for a 108 finish & 18 darts, only for Scott to follow up clocking 128 (54,54,20) to take it in 21. The 4th leg saw Scott clock 81 to go out in 15 darts with JK sat on 112. 4 tons JK, 8 for Scott. Sutton 2 Tamworth 3.

Mark Kane (29.47) 3 Steve Carter (17.63) 0

Don't know what Steve did to upset 'Coke' but Kaney out in 18, 14 & 19 didn't hang around. A 180 & a 177 for Kaney who seems to be County 'A' class every week this season. 8 tons and a 180 + 177 for Kaney. 3-3 on the night.

Mark Wild (18.56) 3 Darin Jones (17.97) 0

After his form over the last couple of months Wildy is entitled to an off night, and if he wins 3-0 as well then happy days! First 2 legs in 27 & 21 was off Wildy's normal pace, but yes Wildy that was 16 darts at a double in leg 3 which shot the average down! However, what a vital point for the team and no harm done. 5 tons for Wildy, 2 for Darin. 4-3 Sutton.

Tony Lewis (18.75) 3 No Player 0

A bye for Tony but as it goes the winning point for the team. 3 tons for Tony. 5-3 Sutton.

Tons 54+4 for Sutton, 37+4 for Tamworth.

A real shame to see Tamworth turning up short and apparently the team is breaking up. Dave Harris Snr has achieved so much with this team over the last few years. Good luck to all of them in whatever happens next.

From our side a good win but we are now level with Hall Green (who go to Leamington in their last game), and a point behind Coventry Cherry Tree (who host Kenilworth). Our last game is Rugby at home on 23rd April. All to play for but Coventry Cherry the clear favourites
