MATCH REPORT

SHARD END 5 SUTTON COLDFIELD 3

Well done to Shard End on their win. Typical local derby, where with the exception of 'Coke the Messiah' and a cracking 3rd match the quality of the darts was inconsistent, but the result all important. We know we could probably replay those first 4 games another dozen times and not go 4-0 down again but that's darts and on the night the Shard End players upped their games in the decisive legs in each match.

We thought the great escape was on at 4-3 and would back Affro more often than not in that position, but 9 missed darts at a double in leg 2 cost him.

Got to say though, Shard End have had their fair share of bad luck this season, drawing games they could have won, and probably deserved one to go for them.

Results:

Matt Gallet (23.95) 3 Barrie Linnecor (21.40) 1

Baz one up in 21 darts, then had 4 at a double for 2-0 which would surely have set up a 1-0 match lead. Matt kicked on from there to win 3-1. 3 tons and a 180 for Baz. Matt also getting a 180. 1-0 Shard End.

Mark Birch (21.17) 3 Kevin Shorthouse (15.32) 0

Kev lacked confidence this week and the Christmas break has come at a good time for him. Forgettable game for Kev. Fresh start in January and this will be a distant memory. 2-0 Shard End.

Ian McFarlane (25.61) 3 Mark Wild (25.56) 1

Contest of the night, Wildy one up in 18 darts, Macca then out in 18, 21 & 21. 7 tons for Wildy. 3-0 Shard End.

Carl WInters (21.90) 3 Steve Paling (20.14) 2

Steve started slowly but finished 183 in 4 darts (60, 60, 39, double 12). Lost the next 2 but bounced back in 21 darts. Good last leg from Carl took the game. 5 tons for Steve. 4-0 Shard
End.

Jason Evans (19.91) 1 John Kavanagh (21.93) 3

JK out in 24 & 16 for 2-0, then missed 7 at a double in the 3rd to let Jason in. Took the 4th leg in 24 for 3-1. 6 tons and a 180 for JK. 4-1 and still in the game.

Anwar Parvez (21.93) 0 Mark Kane (32.67) 3

Truly awesome performance from Kaney out in 14, 14 & 18 darts. 8 tons and if this isn't a County 'A' player please show us one. Surley time for promotion from the 'B'. 4-2 and great escape is really on.

Adam Gallett (20.96) 1 Rob Hawker (24.38 ) 3

Unheard of but Pikey missed 11, yes 11 darts at the double in leg 1. After that it was business as usual and out in 19, 17 & 16 for 3-1. 8 tons and a 180 for Pikey. A 180 for Adam also. 4-3 and Steve McQueen is revving up his motor bike.

Tony Comerford (18.66) 3 Dave Wallace (19.85) 2

Looked set up for the great escape. Affro lost the first despite a 180. 2nd leg looked in the bag but missed 9 at a double before Tony clocked 50. Next two went to Affro in 21 & 20. Tony hit 3 tons in the deciding leg to edge out Affro who was sat on Tops. 5-3 Shard End.

MOM's Macca and 'Coke'.

Kaney really is playing some great darts at present. Bodes well for the county.

Good bunch of lads at Shard End, and disappointed though we are, we have to say well done lads. Hope to reverse it of course at our place.

Next game is Cherry Tree away on 15th January.
