MATCH REPORT

 LEAMINGTON 5 SUTTON COLDFIELD 3

This was always going to be a tough night, first finding their place, and then taking on the side who were National Super League Champions very recently.

Jamie Atkins (22.43) 3 Barrie Linnecor (20.04) 0

Closer than the score suggests, with Baz on 52 or under in each leg when Jamie finished. Tough on Baz also having to drive, so couldn't have a pint either. 2 tons for Baz. 1-0 to Leamington.

Nick Gedney (30.06) 3 Rob Hawker (24.22) 0

Tough draw for Rob, especially with Nick getting the darts. Rob probably should have took the 2nd, but little chance in the others against the darts with Nick out in 14 & 15 darts. 2 tons for Rob. Nick hit 2 x 180 and 7 tons in the 3 legs.
Leamington now 2 up.

Nigel Heydon (24.67) 0 Mark Kane (27.33) 3

Even the averages leader was unable to stop Kaney in his current form. 7 tons and out in 21, 16 & 18. Great MOM performance from Coke. Sutton back in the game now at 2-1 down.

Dave Atkins (20.88) 3 Kev Shorthouse (18.80) 0

A chance in the 2nd leg for Kev, but Dave generally in control. Good experience for Kev in his first season. 2 tons for Kev. 3-1 to Leamington.

Pete Allen (26.94) 2 Mark Wild (25.52) 3

Clash of the Spiders and our Spidey won! Mark won the first 2 legs in 20 & 19, Pete bounced back in 17 & 16. Wildy took the decider in 15 (140, 180, 25, 55, 101f). Wildy hit 2 x 180 and 6 tons, Pete hit 9 tons in reply. Great game. 3-2 Leamington.

Pete Hughes (25.17) 2 Chris Millward (25.73) 3

Milly is now really starting to find his form at the 501 format. Milly out in 18, 21 & 19. 9 tons for Milly and 13 tons for Worcestershire county player Pete. 3-3 on the night.

Dave Clarke (23.80) 3 Steve Paling (19.77) 1

Steve had edged out county player Dave in the game at our place earlier in the season, but Dave was in good nick this time winning in 18, 17 & 19. Steve hit 5 tons and had 4 at a double including a shot for a 15 dart game in the 4th leg to level up. Close call but 4-3 Leamington.

Colin Laffar (25.91) 3 John Kavanagh (21.49) 0

JK was hoping for a repeat of his 2 previous meetings with Colin in recent seasons where he had beaten the county player, but not this time. Colin out in 20, 16 & 22 including 8 tons. 2 tons for JK in a game dominated by Colin from the off when he hit 4 successive tons in leg 1.

A fair result on the night and can't have any complaints. MOM's were Nick Gedney & Mark Kane.

Running averages Leamington 24.98, and Sutton 22.86.

Tons were Leamington 58+2, and Sutton a dreadful 35+2 (we have been getting 50+ most weeks).

There is little doubt Leamington are the Champions elect, and only a defeat when they next play the Cherry Tree can surely stop them. For our part this result leaves us 4th, 6 points behind Coventry Cherry Tree with a game in hand, so we need to beat Tamworth at home next week to leap frog them in the table. Hall Green remain 5th after a 4-4 draw against a depleted Nuneaton side. Their next game is Shard End
next week.
