MATCH REPORT
Great win for Sutton against a very strong Hall Green team that includes 4 x current County A players, 2 x current County B players, not forgetting Kirk Shepherd from the PDC as well!
Rob Hawker (27.12) 3 Jim Norris (26.39) 1
9 tons for Pikey and out in 18, 23 & 17 after Jim, the Warwicks & Sports Argus star opened up with a 16 darter. Rob missed tops for 13 darts in that last game after 3 back to back 140's. Also a 116 finish for Rob who was Sutton's MOM. Jim replied with 8 tons and 2 x 180's. 1-0 to Sutton.
Chris Millward (22.77) 0 Bob Nixon (30.06) 3
The draws still don't get any easier for Milly, so it was the short straw again. 4 tons for Chris but Bob (also Warwicks & Sports Argus) went out in 18, 14 & 18. No stopping him tonight. 1-1 on the night.
Mark Wild (19.96) 3 Mark Gwalchmai (21.41) 1
Wildy went down 1-0 to a 15 darter including a 150 out shot, but dug in to take the next 3 in 25, 24 & 28. Some missed doubles in legs 2 & 3 pulled the average down. 4 tons for Wildy. Sutton 2-1 up.
Barrie Linnecor (23.13) 3 Steve Harding (22.12) 1
Baz also went one down in 18 darts having missed two darts at double 19 himself. Held it together to take the next 3 in 26, 23 & 18. 6 tons for Baz.
3-1 for Sutton and a real turning point in the game.
Mark Kane (25.01) 3 Chris Stokes (24.62) 1
Again Sutton went a leg down, this time in 19 darts only for Kaney to take the next 3 in 23, 22 & 16. 11 tons for Kaney and a great win against his county teammate who hit 2 x 180's. A 4-1 lead for Sutton and a guaranteed draw at least.
Kevin Shorthouse (21.67) 1 Kirk Shepherd (24.15) 3
6 tons for Kev in only his 2nd super league game, and he drew his 2nd PDC opponent in a row and this time the World chamionship runner up. Kev won the 3rd leg in 25 darts but Kirk won the other 3 legs in 23, 18 & 17. Now it was 4-2 Sutton.
Steve Paling (22.91) 1 Lee Harris (26.47) 3
Another tough draw for Steve. 7 tons in 4 legs for Steve but Lee played an excellent game out in 23, 16 & 17. Steve took the 2nd leg in 21 with a 110 finish. 4-3 to Sutton and all on the last game.
John Kavanagh (21.21) 3 Tom Martin (20.99) 2
An edgy deciding game. 10 tons for JK, 8 tons and a 180 for Tom. All legs went with the darts. JK out in 22, 20 & 26. It was certainly tense with Tom clearly pumped up after seeing his team get back into the game. A relief when that double went in!
What a result, and it puts us back in the frame again after our defeat against Coventry Cherry Tree.
