MATCH REPORT:

HALL GREEN 5 SUTTON COLFIELD 3

This was always going to be a tough game against a side that have probably underachieved this season and should have been challenging Leamington for the title given the side they have.

Jim Norris (24.64) 3 Barrie Linnecor (19.08) 0

Always tough playing first when away in this league, having spent the early part of the night travelling and Baz seems to have booked the season ticket for the no.1 spot recently. Jim out in 19, 21 & 21 giving little away. Jim 4 tons to Baz's 3. 1-0 Hall Green.

Mick Gorst (23.46) 3 John Kavanagh (21.17) 1

JK took the 1st in 21, Mick the 2nd in 19, each time the opponent sat on a double. The decider was probably the poor 3rd leg with both having 8 at a double, before Mick finally took it. Good 4th leg from Mick in 16 darts included a 180. 10 tons Mick, 7 for JK. 2-0 Hall Green.

Steve Harding (22.64) 3 Dave Wallace (23.08) 1

Missed doubles cost Affro, first to a double in legs 1 & 2 but let Steve in to finish in 21 & 23. Affro took the 3rd in 21, and got down first again in the 4th but missed 5 more at a double to let Steve in yet again for 24 darts. Steve 7 tons, Affro 6. 3-0 Hall Green.

Lee Harris (24.24) 3 Steve Paling (20.58) 0

Our Tuesday team mate Lee showed us no sympathy after our slow start to the game, either. Out in 17, 24 & 21 for a 3-0 win against Steve. 6 tons for Lee, 2 for Steve. 4-0 Hall Green.

Chris Stokes (23.87) 2 Rob Hawker (27.33) 3

Rob rarely loses with the darts, and so it proved winning legs 1, 3 & 5 in 21, 13 (100,180,140,45,36f) & 17 darts. Skippy took the others in 23 & 19 to make a close game of it but Rob always looked in control. 5 tons for Chris, 10 tons and a 180 for Pikey. 4-1 Hall Green.

Matt Cooper (22.85) 0 Chris Millward (24.64) 3

Milly really starting to master this 501 game now. Out in 21, 19 & 21 and looking comfortable throughout. 4 tons each with a 180 for Matt. 4-2 Hall Green.

Bob Nixon (27.23) 2 Mark Kane (28.17) 3

Game of the night without a doubt. Kaney took the first in 17 but had a shot at 13. Bob replied in 13 darts. Kaney took the 3rd in 16, but Bob levelled in 23 in a leg where more darts seemed to bounce out than stick. Kaney then won a tense 5th leg in 19 for an excellent win. 10 tons for Bob, 13 for Kaney. 4-3 Hall Green.

Tom Martin (24.90) 3 Mark Wild (25.54) 2

All set up for a close finish and the game did not disappoint. Wildy out in 17 in the 1st leg including a 180, Tom took the 2nd in 17 also including a 180. The 3rd leg went to Tom in 22, but a cracking 4th leg by Wildy in 15 darts levelled it including his 2nd 180 of the match. Tom took the 5th with his 3rd dart for 21 darts with Wildy sat on 87 after 18. 7 tons and a 180 for Tom, 8 tons & 2 x 180's for Wildy.

A close call after a disastrous start, but edged out 5-3 by a very good side. Only issue really was an awful matchboard. So many bounce outs on both sides threatened to spoil an excellent game.

Tons were Hall Green 53+3, Sutton 53+3.

Averages were Hall Green 24.25, Sutton 23.70.

MOM's were Kaney & Tom Martin.

Other results mean we drop to 6th but a win in our game in hand next week could put us 3rd, it is so close. Problem is we are playing Tamworth, our local rivals and a very good side.
