Sutton Coldfield 3 Rugby 5
A very
disappointing defeat for us, but hats off to Rugby who hit their doubles when
they needed to. We outscored them on tons but missed out at the business end of
games just too often on the night.
Dane Vickers (22.65) 0
Chris Morgan (22.43) 3
Chris winning in 22, 21 & 24 darts,
but had Dane took the first leg it could have been a very different story. Three
very even legs, with Dane outscoring his opponent on tons but missing the key
doubles. Dane 7 tons, Chris 5 tons. 1-0 Rugby.
Paul Cumming
(23.28) 3 Paul Bodsworth (13.51) 1
An awful first leg was
eventually won by Boz. Paul bounced back though with a 15 dart 2nd leg (missing
the bull for 12 darts). Paul going 140, 100, 140, 96, 25f. Paul took the next 2
in 20 & 18 darts for a comfortable 3-1 win. Paul 7 tons, Boz none. 1-1 on
the night.
Dave Wallace (18.97) 2 Ricky Reed (20.18)
3
Better scoring was expected from both players but it went all
the way, with Ricky winning the 1st in 25 darts, Affro levelling in 27. Ricky
went 2-1 up in 22 darts, for Affro to level again in 26. Ricky hit 3 tons in the
deciding leg to gain the advantage, and clocked 62 for 21 darts. Affro 3 tons,
Ricky 9. Rugby 2-1 up.
Mark Kane (27.11) 1 Prakash Jiwa
(28.43) 3
One of those games where it is a good draw when you
win and a bad draw when you lose. Prakash clocked 109 for a 15 dart 1st leg with
Kaney sat on 94. He then went 2-0 up in 18 darts with Kaney on 46 after 15.
Kaney won the 3rd in 18 darts, but couldn't find the big scores in the 4th.
Prakash took the 4th in 17 darts for 3-1 and the Rugby MOM. Kaney 7 tons,
Prakash 8. Rugby 3-1 up.
Rob Hawker (27.45) 3 Carl Green
(24.24) 1
Rob took the 1st in 15 darts (43, 135, 140, 159,
24f), then went 2 up in 20 darts. A blip in the 3rd allowed Carl to pull one
back in 20 darts, but a 16 dart 4th leg including a maximum saw Rob home and
took the Sutton MOM. Rob 8 tons and a 180, Carl 4 tons. 3-2 to Rugby.
Chris Millward (21.88) 3 Terry James (20.73) 2
A slow start with Terry winning the first in 25 darts. The second was no
better with Terry going 2 up in 28 darts. Milly woke up with a 16 dart 3rd leg.
He levelled in the 4th in 22 darts. Milly then included a maximum in a 19 dart
5th leg to complete a victory ........ the hard way. Milly 8 tons plus a 180,
Terry 6 tons. 3-3 on the night.
John Kavanagh (21.64) 1
Hemal Tailor (22.08) 3
Another game where heavier scoring on
tons for Sutton counted for nought. Hemal took the 1st in 21 darts, with JK
levelling in 22 for 1-1. JK down first in the 3rd but missed doubles proved
costly and Hemal took advantage to lead 2-1. JK had a shot at tops for a 120 out
in the 4th but missed again and Hemal took the leg in 20 darts for 3-1. JK 8
tons, Hemal 3 tons. Rugby 4-3 up.
Mark Wild (21.06) 0 Mark Fewz
(23.12) 3
Mark Fewz hit 140 & 125 in the 1st leg to take it
against the darts in 21. The second leg saw missed doubles both sides before the
Rugby lad took out 32 for 2-0 in 23 darts. He then took a steady 3rd leg in 21
darts. Wildy not at his best due to problems with his arm but most of the damage
in the scoreline effectively done before game 8. Wildy 3 tons, Mark 3 tons. 5-3
the final score.
Rob Hawker & Prakash Jiwa the MOM's.
180's
for Rob Hawker & Chris Millward.
Tons were:
Sutton 51+2

Rugby certainly got behind their team, buoyed by their early
successes on the night. We were strangely quiet on the night. This is something
we will have to take on board for the rest of the season. Our support for the
team last year was as good as any team in the league, but it really wasn't there
this week.
Good luck to Rugby, they picked up a very good away win, and
this time last year they were struggling so much for a side, it seemed unlikely
they would be able to even enter a team this year. Well done to Boz on turning
things around.
On our side Pikey carries on winning regardless and is in
excellent form, and Kaney is still playing great darts but has now unfortunately
drawn 2 outstanding opponents in succession. Milly came back from 2 down to grab
a great win and has been grinding out wins even when under par. Paul has
continued his improved form and has put a bit of a run together. The others, I
think, would all say they have not been firing on all cylinders over the last
couple of weeks, but all had their chances to win on the night but for missed
doubles.
The positives are that we are scoring at 50+ tons again, and
averaging 23+ as a team more regularly. We just need to finish games off.
Its reigning champions Leamington next week at home. We will need a much
improved performance for that one.
