MATCH REPORT

SUTTON COLDFIELD 4 HALL GREEN 4

Re-arranged at Hall Green's request, they turned up with a strong side. However, despite the fact that Kaney, who sat top of our averages going into the game, was missing we got our team running average to 23 for the first time since the first match of the season, and scrapped our way to a creditable draw against a very good side.

ROB HAWKER (27.61) 3 MICK GORST (24.62) 1

Pikey started well going one up in 16 darts, but County A lad Mick levelled in 17 darts. Rob went 2-1 up with a 2nd 16 darter including a 180, before taking the 4th in 22 for a vital 3-1 win & the Sutton MOM award. 9 tons & a 180 for Pikey, 8 tons for Mick. 1-0 Sutton.

CARL PERRY (16.38) 0 BOB NIXON (25.47) 3

Another tough draw for Carl, who found it difficult against Sports Argus & County A player Bob. Bob steady throughout winning in 20, 20 & 19 darts for a 3-0 win. 1 ton to Carl, 5 to Bob. 1-1 on the night.

MARK WILD (25.87) 0 JIMMY NORRIS (25.05) 3

Wildy had chances to win the first against the darts, and had he done so it may have been a very different game. Jim eventually took it in 24, and won the next in 15 darts, with Wildy again missing an opportunity for 15 darts himself. Jim took the 3rd in 21 including a maximum, but the 3-0 scoreline far from a true reflection of a very close game. Wildy 5 tons, Jimmy 5 tons & a 180. 2-1 to Hall Green.

JOHN KAVANAGH (20.06) 0 LEE HARRIS (26.84) 3

Lee was Hall Greens 4th successive County A player to step to the oche on the night, and proved far too good for an out of sorts JK. Lee took the 1st in 14 darts which included 2 x 140, followed up with a 21 dart 2nd leg which he started with a maximum. A 3rd leg in 21 darts completed a 3-0 win. 1 ton for JK, 6 & a 180 for Lee. 3-1 to Hall Green.

DAVE WALLACE (21.99) 3 MARK GWALCHMAI (21.80) 1

It looked like Hall Green taking the initiative again when Mark clocked 120 for an 18 dart 1st leg, but Affro ground out a win in the 2nd leg in 25 darts before taking the next two in 22 & 21 for a 3-1 win. 5 tons to Affro, 5 to Mark. 3-2 to Hall Green.

DANE VICKERS (20.38) 3 MATTY COOPER (20.38) 2

The first 2 legs went with the darts Dane in 23 and Matty in 26 darts. Missed doubles cost Dane the 3rd with Matty out in 25, but Dane dug in and levelled at 2-2 in the 4th. The 5th leg was much better with Dane hitting 140 to leave tops and taking that 1st dart for a 19 dart decider and a 3-2 win. Dane 4 tons, Matty 8. 3-3 on the night.

PAUL CUMMING (24.88) 3 STEVE HARDING (23.48) 1

Paul took the 1st against the darts clocking 94 for a 21 dart leg, but a 118 finish from Steve levelled it in 18.Paul regained the lead with a 20 dart 3rd leg, before clocking 105 in the 4th for an 18 dart 4th leg and a 3-1 win. 7 tons to Paul, 6 to Steve. 4-3 to Sutton.

CHRIS MILLWARD (26.83) 0 KIRK SHEPHERD (31.31) 3

A cracking last game. Kirk took the first in 17 darts, but Milly came back fighting with 121, 100, 100, 100 in the 2nd to leave 80 after 12 darts. He didn't get a shot though as Kirk went out in 14 darts for 2-0. It could have been 12 darts had the 161 finish gone in. Kirk finished off clocking 96 for another 17 dart game for 3-0 and the MOM with Milly sat on 36. Milly 6 tons, Kirk 6 tons. 4-4 on the night.

I think all concerned probably felt it was about a fair result on the night.

Running averages Sutton 23.00, Hall Green 24.87.

Tons were Sutton a disappointing 38 + 1, Hall Green 49 +2.

Obviously we know the Hall Green lads very well with Lee playing at our club in the Tuesday league and Kirk & Julian Harris playing for the Fox Inn. It is always a good night and a competitive game and so it proved.

From our side, a better team performance than in recent weeks, and great to see Paul & Dave chalking up their vital first wins of the season.

Next up its Bartley Green away on 15th October.
