MATCH REPORT

Bartley Green 4 Sutton Coldfield 4

A second successive draw for Sutton against new team Bartley Green. Again about fair on the night.

Dave Marsh (24.24) 3 Dane Vickers (21.22) 0

Dave went off like a train for Bartley Green, leaving 61 after 12 darts with 140, 100, 100, 100, eventually taking it in 16 darts. More of the same in leg 2, another 3 tons and out in 19 darts for 2-0. Dane had every chance in the 3rd though missing several doubles before Dave took it in 27 for 3-0. Dave 8 tons, Dane 3. 1-0 Bartley Green.

Martin Tibbetts (23.95) 3 Mark Wild (22.15) 1

Martin also started well for the home side 100, 100, 140, and took the first in 22 darts. Wildy bounced back in the 2nd in 21. Martin held his throw for 2-1 with another 21 dart game. Wildy unlucky to miss out in the 4th, as Martin took out 61 for another 21 dart leg, and 3-1. 8 tons to Martin, 6 to Wildy. 2-0 Bartley Green.

Billie Kernohan (21.02) 0 Mark Kane (24.64) 3

Kaney out in 20 in the first leg, including 3 tons. The second even better, hitting a maximum to leave 144 and just missing his double 12 for the out shot. He took the leg in 17 darts. Kaney wrapped it up in 24 in the 3rd for 3-0. 2 tons for Billie, 6 for Kaney. 2-1 to Bartley Green.

Brendan Cowan (22.12) 0 Chris Millward (25.05) 3

A cracking 1st leg saw Milly take it in 14 darts (100, 100, 140, 81, 80 out) with Brendan sat on 24 after 15. Milly took the 2nd in 23 despite some wobbles on the double. The 3rd went in 23 for 3-0 and an MOM performance for Milly. 5 tons for Brendan, 6 for Milly. 2-2 the match score.

Paul Watkin (24.97) 3 John Kavanagh (21.14) 1

JK looked set for the 1st leg sat on 91 after 12, and had 2 at tops before Paul clocked a brilliant 157 for 18 darts. JK bounced back in the second hitting 140 to leave 108, and took out that finish in 3 for 21 darts. A good third leg in 20 gave Paul the initiative back and a 19 dart 4th leg gave Paul a 3-1 win and the Bartley Green MOM award. 6 tons for Paul, 4 for JK. 3-2 Bartley Green.

Tommy McGlone (23.53) 3 Rob Hawker (21.29) 1

Rob wasn't feeling 100 % on the night, and this no doubt affected his darts. Rob took a mediocre 1st leg, and had 2 at a double for 2-0 against the County A player, Tommy. Tommy took that leg in 19, and the 3rd leg in 23 for a 2-1 lead. Back to back tons for Rob left him on 52 after 18, but Tommy took the 4th in 16 darts for a 3-1 win. 6 tons for Tommy, 3 for Rob. 4-2 Bartley Green.

Gareth Johnston (18.99) 1 Dave Wallace (19.22) 3

Affro bust 96 before eventually losing out to the Bartley Green youngster in the 1st in 24 darts. Dave dug in though to take the 2nd in 27, the third in 26 and finally the 4th in 24 darts for a vital 3-1 win. 5 tons to Gareth, 5 for Dave. 4-3 Bartley Green.

Ryan O'Neil (16.18) 1 Paul Cumming (18.29) 3

Missed doubles ended with Paul winning a long 1st leg on double 1. A much better 2nd leg saw Paul out in 20 darts for 2-0. Paul then missed an amazing 14 darts at a double to close the match out before the Bartley Green youngster pulled the leg back. A steadier 4th leg saw Paul home in 25 darts for 3-1 and a drawn match on the night. 3 tons for Ryan, 5 for Paul.

Although we were never in front, it seemed a fair result on the night, though averages overall were disappointingly low. As a new team, the oche there seemed a temporary one, and I am sure in time that will get sorted.

Tons were 43 for Bartley Green, 38 +1 for Sutton which again is very low.

Only 1 x maximum for Mark Kane.

For us a great performance from Milly following on from his 26+ against Kirk Shepherd last week, means he is getting back to his best. More of this and surely County darts beckons. Kaney was steady throughout as always, and great to see Affro & Paul to record back to back wins, and wins in this league breed confidence.

Overall a decent point. As there is no game next week, our next game is the trip to local rivals Shard End in a fortnight.
